In the latest episode of his web TV series, “The Chopra Well,” Deepak Chopra takes an interesting look at the relationship between age and creativity, including how we keep creative and innovative energy alive as we get older. It comes down to the concept of neuroplasticity.
“The brain has a quality known as plasticity—the ability to form new neural pathways even into very old age,” explains Chopra. “The brain is fluid, flexible and incredibly adaptable to new experiences.”
While you may not think of yourself as a “creative” person, the kind of creativity Chopra is talking about maintaining doesn’t just apply to artistic endeavors; it’s about maintaining imaginativeness, playfulness and flexibility in your everyday thinking, too.
“Although you may no longer think of yourself as a creative or imaginative person, your very existence is evidence of your innate creativity,” says Chopra. “In every moment, you are co-creating your reality through your thoughts, your intentions, your words and your actions. ”
